Eravamo alla ricerca di un viaggio romantico, uno di quelli che ti resta per sempre nel cuore. La scelta è ricaduta sulla splendida Santorini.

We were looking for a romantic trip, one that stays in your heart forever. The choice fell on the beautiful Santorini.

Non vi nascondo che le aspettative erano alte: avevamo visto centinaia di foto dell’isola. Tutte rappresentazioni patinate. L’impressione era di un luogo da cartolina: il blu del mare che abbraccia le casette bianche e le strutture affacciate su panorami mozzafiato.

I won’t hide the fact that expectations were high: we had seen hundreds of photos of the island. All glossy representations. The impression was of a postcard-perfect place: the blue of the sea embracing white houses and structures overlooking breathtaking views.

Abbiamo optato per un favoloso hotel con vista Caldera: l’Aeifos Boutique Hotel a Imerovigli. Dall’aeroporto alla struttura mi sono soffermata sul paesaggio: lontano dall’immaginario di isola da cartolina ma comunque splendido. A tratti incontaminato e selvaggio.

Arrivata all’hotel, lo staff ci accoglie esclamando con gioia “welcome to paradise!”. Nulla di più vero. Ci accompagnano in camera: lo spazio è ampio e tutto è estremamente curato. La terrazza con vista ha la vasca idromassaggio e il panorama della Caldera è a dir poco unico. Ci sentiamo catapultati in un sogno.

We opted for a fabulous hotel with a Caldera view: the Aeifos Boutique Hotel in Imerovigli. From the airport to the hotel, I lingered on the landscape: far from the image of a picture-postcard island, but still splendid. At times uncontaminated and wild. When we arrived at the hotel, the staff welcomed us exclaiming with joy “welcome to paradise!”. Nothing could be truer. They take us to our room: the space is large and everything is extremely well cared for. The terrace with a view has a jacuzzi and the view of the Caldera is nothing short of unique. We feel catapulted into a dream.

La voglia di esplorare l’isola è tanta. Decidiamo di prendere un quad a noleggio e ci avventuriamo senza meta. La sensazione è da brividi: i paesaggi che ammiriamo, il sole e il vento sul viso ci fanno provare un meraviglioso senso di avventura e libertà. Torniamo in hotel a tarda sera, e troviamo dei cioccolatini portati dallo staff; cosa che scopriremo avranno la premura di fare ogni giorno. Apriamo una bottiglia di un buon vino locale e ci immergiamo nella vasca idromassaggio. L’atmosfera è da favola.

I giorni seguenti ci abituiamo a questa “routine da sogno”: esplorare l’isola, godersi tramonti indimenticabili, il relax in hotel e i ristoranti con vista.

Come dimenticare il piacere di gustare del buon cibo, sorseggiando del vino di fronte a panorami mozzafiato? Due locali in particolare mi hanno letteralmente conquistata: “Fly Away Creative Restaurant & Bar” e “Santoro“. Entrambi i ristoranti, situati a Imerovigli, regalano uno scenario unico, specialmente al tramonto. E pensando ai tramonti indimenticabili, non posso non ricordare con nostalgia Oia o il faro di Akrotiri. I giorni trascorsi sull’isola sono letteralmente volati. Il giorno della partenza è arrivato e la malinconia di lasciare Santorini si è fatta sentire. Una volta tornati a casa abbiamo passato giorni a scorrere le fotografie una dopo l’altra, talvolta emozionandoci. We feel catapulted into a dream. The desire to explore the island is great. We decide to take a rented quad bike and venture out aimlessly. The feeling is chilling: the landscapes we admire, the sun and the wind on our faces make us feel a wonderful sense of adventure and freedom. We return to the hotel late in the evening, and find some chocolates brought by the staff; something we will find out they will take care of every day. We open a bottle of a fine local wine and soak in the hot tub. The atmosphere is fabulous. The following days we get used to this “dream routine”: exploring the island, enjoying unforgettable sunsets, relaxing in the hotel and enjoying the restaurants with a view. How can we forget the pleasure of enjoying good food, sipping wine in front of breathtaking views? Two places in particular have literally conquered me: “Fly Away Creative Restaurant & Bar” and “Santoro“. Both restaurants, located in Imerovigli, offer a unique scenery, especially at sunset. And thinking of unforgettable sunsets, I can’t help but remember with nostalgia Oia or the lighthouse of Akrotiri. The days spent on the island have literally flown by. The day of departure has arrived and the melancholy of leaving Santorini has been felt. Once back home we spent days scrolling through the photographs one after the other, sometimes moving us.
